George LeRoy Hackett

George LeRoy Hackett, age 74, passed away peacefully on May 7, 1990 at his home.

Born January 29, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Faye Cunningham Hackett and George B. Hackett.

Father of two children, Ronald G. Hackett and Julie Anne Hackett Fields (Michael); four grandchildren, Robert and Heather Hackett, Jill Fields Carter (Richard) and Joy Fields; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Carter.

Married Jayne Cutting on March 14, 1936 in Salt Lake City. Later divorced. She died January 17, 1978. Married Marian Cornwall on February 4, 1959 in San Francisco, California. Lived in Salt Lake City, Denver, San Diego, San Marino, and La Jolla.

Loved people, and they loved him. A catalyst for many activities. Attended Salt Lake City schools. Was interested in business at an early age. Worked for Electric Autolite Corp., Ford Motor, Co., and built his own businesses in insurance and investments. His travels took him all over the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii, London, Switerland, and France.

He was intimately involved with extended family members and often entertained them on his cabin cruiser. Was a member of the LDS Church. Participated in Kiwanis Club and the Golden Rule Club. Is listed in "Who's Who in the West" Volume 6.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; a son and daughter; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Agnes Hackett. Preceded in death by a half-brother, Dean Hackett.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 11, 1990 at 12:30 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Published in the Deseret News on May 9, 1990.
