About George Raymond Hall

RIGBY - George Raymond Hall, 80, of Archer, Idaho, died Sept. 14, 2000, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. He was born June 15, 1920, at Bates, Idaho, to Earl Shakespeare Hall and Hannah Rebecca Dustin Hall. He grew up and attended schools in Teton County until 1936, when he joined and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps. On Aug. 2, 1942, he married Clella Allen. They were later divorced. He married Phyllis Statham on May 23, 1969, at Rexburg. He joined the Army in April 1942 and was wounded in action in France during World War II. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After the war, he returned to Teton County, where he farmed until 1959. He then moved to Sugar City and worked in potato processing until he retired in 1981. His special interest was raising and racing horses.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Hall of Archer; a daughter, Aloma (Rudy) Charles of Ririe, Idaho; three sons, Alan (Catherine) Hall of Parker, Idaho, Ray (Gloria) Hall of Auburn, Wash., and Rex (Kathy) Hall of Meridian; six stepchildren, Colleen (Rod) Eckman of Las Vegas, Nev., Carma Erickson of Idaho Falls, Beverly (Kenneth) Wilding of West Valley, Utah, Brent Leatham of Rexburg, Bryan Leatham of Magna, Utah, and Jerald Leatham of Boise; a sister, Vilda Ellis of Rexburg; a brother, Hyrum Hall of Logan, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Archer LDS Ward with Bishop Lamont Merrill officiating. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, and Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer.
