About George Goff Hatfield
George Hatfield is one of the early pioneers that settled the area along the Clinch River in southwest Virginia. Records do not reveal the names of his parents or wife. There are four known sons. There is a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren and their children. George can be found but a few times in official records. In 1771 he is first on a list of tithables for Boteourt County, Virginia and later on Robert Doach's muster list of the Clinch River area. There is a deed of land to his son Abner on November 28, 1809 on the Lick Branch, Lee County, Virginia.
