George Hood married Elizabeth Goist (1770-1851) on 3 April 1791 in Bart township, Lancaster, PA. In 1808 he moved his family from Washington County, PA to Ohio settling in Liberty township. From Volume 2 of the History of Trumbull and Mahoning Counties, in an article about George's son Amos it says the father "Mr. Geo Hood was a pioneer and passed through the trials and hardships incident to pioneer life. He began in the wilderness & cleared up a good farm."

George Hood is Ancestor # A057524 in the records of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and is said to have served as a Private in the 7th Battalion of the Lancaster County Militia (PA) under Captain Robert McKee during the American Revolutionary War. George is listed on the rolls of Trumbull County, Ohio Revolutionary War Veterans.
