George immigrated to Australia in around 1885 and was a member of the 4th contingent of the Victorian Imperial Bushmen when they embarked to fight in the South African conflict (Boer War 1899-1902). He was wounded in action in France on 15 August 1917 and medically discharged on 12 April 1918. George died in his home at 95 Mary Street in Fremantle on 14 October 1932.
