About George Kerr
George was born at Northfield Farm near Coldingham, Berwickshire on 10th September 1840. His father was also called George and his mother was Jane Trotter. He had two brothers Thomas and Andrew Trotter, and four sisters, Ann, Christina, Jane and Margaret.
He married Margaret Weatherston on 6th January 1868 at Northfield Farm, Coldingham. They had three daughters, Margaret Carrie, Jane Ann and Alison Curle, and four sons, George, Andrew, Thomas and James.
He worked as a ploughman and farm servant at Northfield, Auchencrow and Middlesots farms. He still worked as a forrester when in his 70s, he lived in Ayton.
He died at Gunsgreen Farm Ayton 17 Jan 1921 at 80 years old, of chronic Hepatitis. He outlived his wife by 32 years.
