George Michael Kipps

THis is Myrtle, Lillian and Ruths grand daddy. Known as Michael. He acquired the homeplace of wife Mary Elizabeth's father, Henry Linkous Jr. (#6 in Clovis Linkous' book). This was the homeplace of the original Henry Linkous the Hessian soldier (whos is #6's dad). The house is lived in by two grand-daughters of Michael and Mary Elizabeth today (book was published in 1982), namely May and Florence Kipps, daughters of John and Nannie Kipps. May and Florence told Clovis (author of the book) an interesting story: Michael and Mary Elizabether had invited a Methodist minister to come to their home and baptize all the children. (there were 8). Ladonia felt the cold water from the sprinkling go down her back and began to giggle. This started all the children to giggling and greatly embarassed the parents. After the minister left, the father admonished the children as to their mistake and solidified the admonition with a switch from the lawn.
