Fake Genealogy

At least five pedigrees published by MyHeritage identify George Leper, here treated, as that son of George Leiper and his wife Agnes Hill whose baptism was registered on 2 September 1649, at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. It seems quite likely, though, probable even, that this child died before 21 June 1657, the date upon which the baptism of his younger brother of the same name was registered at Glasgow in Lanarkshire, Scotland. [National Records of Scotland, Glasgow Baptisms, reference OPR.644/1/5] It follows, therefore, that George Leper, here treated, is not the same person as George Leiper, primus

Another two pedigrees published on the internet, without justification or explanation, claim that George Leper, here treated, is the same person as William George Leiper. MyHeritage and genealogyonline This is wrong.

Marriage

George Leper, Resident of Aberdeen, here treated, married Isobel Nicolson A date and place for the marriage has not been identified. However, it seems possible that Isobel Nicolson is the same person as the lady named Cristian Nicolson who married George Lepper at Aberdeen on 17 May 167o. The marriage record reads as follows: "George Lepper & Cristian Nicolson was mareit the 17 of May 1670."
