on 12 June 1646, and on the same date he also expede a general service as heir-male of his brother-german Alexander, Master of Spynie. On 8 November 1666 he was served as nearest and lawful heir-male of David, twelfth Earl of Crawford. On the death of Ludovic, sixteenth Earl of Crawford, Lord Spynie became the head of the family of Lindsay.

MILITARY: Colonel for Angus, Scotland of the Scots Army 1648; commanded troop of 80 horse from the sheriffdom of Stirling and Clackmannan; Colonel of Foot for Angus, Scotland.
OFFICE: Sat in Parliament 1663, 1669 and 1670. ASSIGNMENTS: Served on a committee for regulating the Army.
TITLES: Master of Spynie. TITLES: Succeeded father, in 1646 as Lord Spynie, title created 1590. TITLES: Forfeiture> By proclamation 1654.
PUNISHMENT: Imprisoned> Taken prisoner at Worcester; committed to the Tower; at liberty for the benefit of his health 1652. PUNISHMENT: Forfeiture> Forfeited by proclamation 1654.
