The following was taken from the Apr. 14, 1976 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at New Hope Church for George Dewey Locklear. Officiating were the Rev. Charles Oxendine, the Rev. James H. Woods, and the Rev. Campbell.
Soloist was Roscoe Jones, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Mabel Oxendine.
Burial was in the Sand Cut cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lynwood Locklear, Elton McMillan, Joseph Bullard, Hoover Lloyd, Earl H. Oxendine, and Winford Lowery.
Mrs. Julie Townsend, Mrs. Ray Elk and Mrs. Magdaline Oxendine were in charge of flowers.
