George Sanders Lusk

The date of birth for George Sanders "Joe" Lusk is not known for sure. In the pension papers for his father, Sam Lusk, the date is October 8, 1869. Sam Lusk signed these papers with his mark and not a signature. George Sanders could not read or write because one of his daughters used to write things for him. I have a copy of his Bible records and in that Bible, his date of birth is October 27, 1869. The Bible record is very hard to read and the people writing in it didn't have good penmanship.

Joe was married 3 times. His first wife was Susan Massengale, daughter of Hampton Alexander Massengale and Mary Jane Jackson and they had one son named Edd who died young and Susan died 29 December 1900. He was married a second time to Margaret B. Jenno and the third time to Ida Maybell Smith and they had 10 children.

Joe lived in Memphis but died in Little Rock, Arkansas. I was told he was either visiting or doing work in Little Rock when he died. His death certificate says he was 70 but if he was born in 1869, then he would be 80.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Aug 22 2023, 15:55:14 UTC
