Takahiwai Northern Advocate 3 September, 1931
(From Our Own Correspondent)
However hard the times may be, it does not prevent the ringing of wedding bells. Last week three cars left Takahiwai for Whangārei, conveying a wedding party to the Registry Office.
The bride was Miss Flora Paki, of Takahiwai, who was attired in ivory satin with an embroidered veil, and carrying a sheaf of lilies.
The bride groom was Mr George Mackie jnr. It may be remembered, celebrated his twenty-first birthday last; Easter upon the occasion of his sister’s wedding. The wedding breakfast was partaken of at Takahiwai Hall, where a throng of relatives gathered.
The evening meal was at the home of Mr George Mackie snr the grandfather of the bridegroom. Dancing was indulged in during the evening, with song items interspersed.
