GEORGE MARSH
Mr. George Marsh was born at West Morlin County, PA (sic--they mean Westmoreland County but George said in his marriage record that he was born in Porter, Jefferson County, PA) June 18, 1843 and died at Maiden Rock, WI January 9, 1919. He was married to Hortency Hewit 52 years ago at Nelson, which was his home. Fourteen children were born to this union, six children and his wife preceeding him to the better land. He leaves to mourn his departure three sons, George, John and Albert of Maiden Rock , and five daughters, Mrs. W.D. Thompson of Erie, ND, Mrs. Frank Kieser of Erie, ND, Mrs. Prosper St. Jacque of Heaton, ND, Mrs. George Safford of Ono, WI and Mrs. Clayton Stockwell of Ellsworth, WI.
Funeral was conducted at Nelson by Rev. Charles Piestuff of Maiden Rock, Jan. 13th at 1:30 p.m. after which the remains were laid to rest at the Nelson cemetery in the family lot. Many of the old settlers who knew him in the past attended the funeral.
