[1] George Massie is found in the parish register of St, Peter's, New Kent, Virginia where his father, Peter Massie was a member [2] George is though to have been born to Peter Massie and unknown spouse in Chester, England prior to his father's immigration to Virginia Colony.

Peter Massie (or Massey) said to be the son of Thomas Massey, of Coddington, Cheshire, England immigrated to the American colony of Virginia about 1677. He patented land in New Kent, built an impressive brick plantation house, one of the earliest in New Kent.

Little else is found on George Massie in the public records of New Kent, Virginia because most of the early colonial period records were destroyed. Fire destroyed most colonial records on 15 July 1787. During the Civil War some records were destroyed in 1862. The surviving records were moved to Richmond for safekeeping, but were destroyed by the fire of 3 April 1865 [3] [4] What we know of George Massie comes primarily from the church records of St. Peter's parish church.
