About George Miller Jr.
When nine years of age his father died. At the age of 16 years, 1832, he with his mother and the rest of her family came to Ohio and located in Preble County. Being reared on a farm he remained at home assisting in the duties of the farm until he grew to manhood. As the lives of the early settlers were those of constant exertion for subsistence, his educational advantages were necessarily very limited.
About the age of 21 he started out in life for himself and worked at the carpenter trade one year. After this he went to Darke County (Ohio) and located about two and one-half miles southwest of Palestine in the Warner neighborhood. On Dec. 26, 1839 he united in marriage with Catherine Warner and moved on a farm owned by John Warner and later bought this same farm and remained here until his death. He was the father of 19 children. They were all born on the same farm or homestead.
Mr. Miller was married three times.
Brother Miller united with the German Baptist or Church of the Brethern in 1958 during which time he lived a devoted and consecrated life in the church serving as a deacon for many years. He was active in church up to within a few years of his death.
From History of George Miller, Sr., and Catherine, his Wife and Their Desendants, 1926. Complied by A. B. Miller, John A. Miller, and F. M. Petry. Dayton, OH: Groneweg Printing Co.
