Served in the Cornet First Light Dragoons in 1780. Served to November 29,1782 and was awarded 2,666 acres of land.
George is evidently well documented through court and land records by adescendant, Irene Griffey, a genealogist in Montgomery Co., TN. He livedin western NC and SC after migrating from Fauquier Co., VA. William, hisbrother lived in the same area of NC-SC before coming to KY where theirother brother James (b: 1742) lived.
George's will names all his children except Ann who pre-deceased him andhis wife who is believed to have died in 1829. His will is in Will BookA, Montgomery County, Tennessee.
The Davidson County, North Carolina, to which George and Rachael moved,was not within the present confines of the state. It was and is in thelocaton of the present County of Davidson in Tennessee, all of which thenwas a part of the colony of North Carolina. It became the state ofTennessee in 1796.

In 1762 George obtained a license to operate the oridnary previously operated by his father north of Warrenton. After his Revolutionary service, he moved to Tennessee.
