George L. Newton was my father. His father was George K. Newton, and he was 35 when my father was born in Goodland, Kansas on May 11, 1920. It was said that my father was his "daddy's boy". Grandpa took my father to Denver for surgery for his cleft pallet when he was 18 months old and stayed there for a month.
