PONTE VEDRA, Fla. – George E. Noe, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994, at Vicars Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach. Fla.
A native of Lebanon, Ky., he moved to Jacksonville Beach, Fla., in 1978. He then moved to Ponte Vedra in 1987.
He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1931 with a bachelor of science degree in engineering and was commissioned a Kentucky colonel in 1987 by the governor of Kentucky.
He worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Inc. for 40 years. He worked at the Alton plant from 1944 to 1955 and other Owens-Illinois plants, retiring in 1972 as a senior project engineer from the Toledo Technical Center in Toledo, Ohio.
He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church of
Jacksonville Beach and Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church of Ponte Vedra Beach.
Born July 7, 1907, in Lebanon. Ky., he was the son of the late Stephen and Annie (Molohon) Noe.
He married the former Lorrain Zaugg on June 20, 1953, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Alton. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Michele Noe of Florence. Ky., and Stephen and Dianne Noe of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Delores Kehel of Kirklin, Ind.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Emily Kay of San Antonio, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were 11 brothers and sisters.
Services were held Dec. 30 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra Beach with the Revs. John Libens and Jim McDonald officiating.
Graveside rites will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey with the Rev. Bob Jallas officiating.
