George A. Nye

George A. NYE born 12 Feb 1861 in Painesville, Lake co., Ohio, the son of George Washington NYE and Electa C. WILLIAMS, in 24 Feb. 1931 in Painesville, Lake co, Ohio at age 70. He married 14 Feb. 1883 in Lake co., Ohio and the divorced before 1900. His wife, Edith Corintha COLE was born 28 July 1892 in Colebrook, Ashtabula county, Ohio, the daughter of William Franklin COLE and Addie Edith BARRETT, died 28 July 1945 in Perry, Lake county, Ohio on her 83rd birthday, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law with whom she was living. Their only child, Mrs. Addie Electa NYE NORTON born 27 Dec. 1883 in Ohio died 14 October 1969 in Perry, Ohio at age 85 the widow of Nelson D. NORTON.
George A. NYE moved to Watertown, Wisconsin where he worked as a physician and magnetist. In Watertown, Wisconsin he married again in 1900 at age 39. His 2nd wife, Ernestine, age 31, was born in Wisconsin, her parents were born in Germany. She had four children: Clara Engels Kircher, Leonard Engels Kircher, William Engels Kircher and Louisa Engels Kircher age 2 months. But ten years later, in 1910 George A NYE at age 49 was an optometrist, was back in Painesville, Lake county, Ohio, living with his 64 year old widowed step-mother, Nancy (MITCHELL) NYE. In 1920 He was living of Mentor Avenue, in Painesville, Ohio with a 54 year old wife, Katherine S. born in Kentucky. George A. NYE died Lake county, Ohio 24 Feb 1931 at age 70. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville, Lake co, OH in the plot with his mother, Electa WILLIAMS NYE and her parents. In records, George A. NYE was referred to as an optometrist, a "magnetist" and as a physician. His step-mother, Nancy R. MITCHELL NYE died at age 83 March 1929 and is buried with George's father in Mentor Township Cemetery, Mentor, Lake co., Ohio.
