George H. Pappas, 56, who left his native Greece alone at the age of 15 to come to the United Stares, died at 8 a. m. today at Mary Washington Hospital.
Pappas, who lived at 700 Caroline St., had been employed at the Recreation Center, at 213 William St., the past eight years.
He had been a patient at the hospital since stricken with a heart attack three months ago. He had suffered a second attack Monday.
After landing in America, Pappas had live in turn in Spokane, Wash., Richmond and Warrenton. He had lived in Fredericksburg the past 30 years, working in a number of restaurants.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Toombs Pappas, and one son, James Pappas, both of Fredericksburg.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Wheeler and Thompson Funeral Home. The officiating minister will be Senior Capt.
