About George W. Pemberton
GEDCOM Note
Mary's Pension application states that George served in "Capt. Stallord's Company, Col. Shelby's Regt., Missouri cavalry 4 years" Upon further investigation, looks like he was in the 5th cavalry, Co. D.
1850 Fed Census, dist 90, Saline County, MO, lists a George Pemberton, age 12, born MO, as the son of William (age 54, born VA) and Milly (age 53, born KY). Also living in that household are John (age 28, born IN) and Rebecca (age 30, born KY) Hall. Also Joshua (age 27, born VA) and Nancy (age 26, born KY) Armentraut. My theory is that the two women are George's older sisters, the men their husbands. At www.rootsweb.com/mosaline/4tombstones/fairview.htm lists Willam and Milley Pemberton and Joshua and Nancy Armentraut as buried in Fairview cemetery, Sweet Springs, MO. William: d. 2 Mar 1870, age 74 yr. 4 mo. Milley: b. 7 Jan 1798, d. 11 Aug 1881 Joshua: b. 10 Jan 1820, d. 17 Feb 1897 Nancy: b. 3 Jan 1825, d. 27 Jan 1905
16 January 2018 According to Ancestry DNA, I (Mary Katherine Pemberton) have a genetic connection to descendants of George's brother Jasper, so it looks like this is indeed my line.
