About George Harry Petersen
George H. Petersen, 58, life resident of Cedar County, died at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in Mercy Hospital, Davenport after a long illness.
He was born May 21, 1887, near Sunbury, the son of Ferdinand and Maria (Jockheck) Petersen. On January 3, 1912, he married Anna Harmsen. They farmed half a mile west of Sunbury until moving to Durant last February.
Mr. Petersen was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Surviving are the widow; two sons, Erwin of Sunbury and Ray of Bennett; three grandchildren; his father, Ferdinand Petersen of Durant; two brothers, Adolph and Ernest, both of Sunbury; and three sisters, Mrs. Paul Lage and Mrs. Clarence Gruemmer, both of Davenport and Miss Viola Petersen of Durant.
The body will remain in the Frick Funeral Home, Durant, until 1:00 p.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the Carl Harmsen home, from where it will be moved to the Durant Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday for services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery.
