About George Rupp

George Rupp was born in Lancaster County, now Lebanon County, a few miles South of Anville. on May 21, 1772 and worked on his father's farm until 1789 when he learned the trade of tailoring from Simeon Heilman of Cumberland County. At the request of his father, using their wagon and a team of horses, moved army supplies from Carlisle to Bedford, helping President Washington to suppress the Whiskey Rebellion in Western Pa in 1794. He also served in Indian hostilities on the western frontier.

From 1795-1801 he was a carpenter and from 1801 - 1830 he was a farmer
