!He was mentioned as an early merchant in Bethel and was Recorder of Tate Twp. in 1863 and Treasurer in 1867 and 1871-72. In 1877 he was a Trustee of the Point Pleasant ME Church and was a clothier in 1879. In 1880 he, Alpha, Glovina, Clifford and Alma were in New Richmond, Ohio Twp., Clermont County. (Ohio census, V9, ED46, Sh61, L30) When did he move to Cincinnati? Probably in 1881 or 1882 (see Directory information).

Salt & Co., petroleum and stock brokers, 10 Pike's Bldg., home at 337 George. 1887 Directory - Same but business at 71 W. 3rd and home at 448 W. 4th. 1895 Directory - manager Cincinnati Grain and Stock Exchange in F. Mitchell Bldg., home flat 7, 463 1/2 McMillan. 1896 Directory - no book in Cincy Library. 1897 and 1898 Directories - did not appear. 1899 and 1900 Directories - show his widow, Mrs. A. R. Salt.
!He apparently died sometime between 1895 and 1899 and is probably buried in Cincinnati or Clermont County. Does not appear in will or administration dockets for Hamilton County for that time period.
