SCAIFE – George Jr., 96, Johnstown, formerly of Nanty Glo, passed away Feb. 18, 2012, at Rebekah Manor, Ebensburg. Born May 8, 1915, in Wellsburg, son of the late George and Elizabeth Scaife. Preceded in death by first wife, Margaret; second wife, Ruth; son, Paul; stepgrandson, Michael Kikidas; brothers, Ralph, Harold, Albert, Charles, Edward and David; an infant brother, George; sisters, Mary and Elizabeth; and an infant sister, Ethel. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Survived by daughter, Donna (Leo) Kovach; grandchildren, Bruce Kovach, Shelly (Carrol) Browne and Keith Scaife; and great-grandchildren, Hope, Holly and Heather Browne. Also survived by stepdaughters, Jane (Jim) Kikidas and Peggy Linc; stepgrandson, Peter (Lindsey) Kikidas; sister-in-law, Vesta Scaife; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church of Nanty Glo. Retired from Bethlehem Mines. Member of UMWA. George was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels program for many years. A special thank you to Home Nursing Agency Hospice. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Nanty Glo, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Milton Vogel, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to C & MA Church of Nanty Glo.
