George Scott
VERMILLION — George P. Scott, 80, Vermillion, died Sunday (April 14, 2002) at Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.
Funeral service is at 2 p.m. Thursday at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion. Cremation will follow service.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 17, 1921, at Pittsfield, Mass. He was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received a doctorate from the University of Rochester. He married M. Louise Hampshire Feb. 14, 1947, at Rochester, N.Y. He had lived in Vermillion since 1949. He was employed as a chemistry professor at USD and was head of the Honors Department for many years.
He was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist, Vermillion.
He is survived by his wife, M. Louise, Vermillion; four daughters: Laurel (Clifton) Mason, Bellevue, Neb.; Dr. Paula (Kevin) Parker-Wathier; Rio Linda, Calif.; Katherine (Kurt) Childers, Rio Linda; and Beverly Miller, LaVista, Neb.; one son, Frederick, Phoenix; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granchild.
