George Scully, ("Uncle George"), was an inimitable character. A veteran of the First World War (1914-1918).He was, as a young man, employed as an electrician, at a sugar factory in Cuba. A very compact man, he had a deep gravelly-baritone voice, and a nose reminiscent of W.C. Fields ! He was endowed with phenomenal strength, and was called "the pocket rocket !" during his years in Cuba ! In retirement, he lived in Mandeville, Manchester, at the Curphey Home for Veterans. He died, aged 87 years old, in Mandeville...
