In the family history written by Thomas Jefferson Jackson See, the author mistakenly identified the father of your Adam as "George" and his grandfather as "Adam." He also relates the story of the death of the father and grandfather by lightning.
After much detailed research (which I'm happy to send if you are interested), we learn that George was not the father but an elder brother who married Catherine Seymour, not Jemima Harness.
The two men, George and Michael, probably did die in a lightning strike as their estate records date to approximately the same time period.
