About George Shrophire
GEDCOM Note
George Shropshire, the son of Thomas Shropshire(1809-1882) and SarahFox(1814-1892) took over as lighthouse Keeper of Egg Island Lighthouse onthe resignation of his father Thomas. When Thomas resigned George becameacting Keeper and became the official Keeper of Egg Island Lighthouse onOctober 8,1880. He remained there until his transfer to another positionon November 9, 1885. He then became Acting Keeper of the Deepwater PointFront Range Lighthouse on that same day. On August 24,1886 George becameofficial Keeper of that light station. He remained there until heresighned on August 1,1895. (The Source of information was Jim Gowdy,author of the book Guiding Lights of the Delaware Bay
