About George Henry Slaughter
GEDCOM Note
Joined the Army on 10th Feb 1891 for 12 years service in the Kings Royal Rifles in Winchester Barracks. He also served in Gibraltar between 2nd December 1891 and 28th November 1894. He rejoined the Army 16th March 1903 and discharged 15th March 1907, once again he served with the Kings Royal Rifles.
He was recalled on 18th August 1914 for the duration of WWI. Again he served in the Kings Royal Rifles until 25th October 1916 when he was transferred to the Northamption regiment and some 2 months later on 27 December he was transferred again this time to Army Service Corps at Aldershot. At no point during his 2nd stint did he see service abroad However he was discharged on 31st December 1918 as being"No longer physically fit for War Service-Para 392 (XVI)KR. His Medal Card indicates that he was entitled to wear the Silver War Badge (SWB) List RASC/3491. It should be noted that all awards for Medals etc were assigned to the last Regiment a Soldier served in
