George Stratford

George was born about 1530. He is the son of John Stratford and Margaret Tracy.

George married Alice Shakerley in about 1572. She was born Alice Radcliffe and was the widow of Ralph Shakerley. They had at least five children; some of whom were baptised at Badsey, Worcestershire.

George's will was drawn up on 4 Mar 1580/81. He is described as George Esq of Farmcote, Gloucestershire. [4] He made bequests to:

• wife Alice
• Paul Tracy of Stanway
• Anthony Stratford of Temple Guiting
• nephew John Stratford of Cold Aston
• John Temple of Stonor in Berkshire
• brothers Harry and Anthony Stratford.

He died quite soon after his will was written and his burial was noted on 22 May 1581 in the parish registers of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire where his parents were buried. [5]
