About George Theron
George was born in Machadadorp and finished school at Jeppe High School in Johannesburg. He started off his working life as Clerk at Barclays Bank.
In 1940 he joined the Infantry Cadet Company in the Army and was a Lieutenant and spent a year in South Africa before being sent to North Africa on the 12th August 1941 and was taken prisoner on the 20th June 1942 in Libya. He was discharged out of the army on the 10th September 1945 as an Article Clerk Accountancy.
George was an accountant with the firm Hoffmeyer Tindall and Partners until his death. He died in the HF Verwoerd Hospital in Pretoria on the 24th November 1970 and his organs were donated to waiting recipiants.
