George Tolar Allin

Son of Hardin County Allin and Sidney Ellen Murphy.

Husband of Jessie May Stearns, married July 31, 1892 in or near Kansas City. Married 55 years.

Father of Gertrude, Orlando Hardin, Florence Bird and George Stearns Allin.

A man noted for his musicical skills throughout his life and 60 year career in the entertainment world. He started off in "Wild West" shows, then worked with Barnum & Bailey. In 1915, he and his 18-year old son, Orlando, travelled with the Con T. Kennedy Shows throughout the U.S. and Canada. Near Columbus, GA on November 22nd, the circus train on which they travelled, collided with a mis-routed passenger train of the Central of Georgia line. The ensuing fire killed 24 of their show friends. By 1916 he was managing the Quindero Garage and Machine shop in Kansas City, KS. In 1918 he moved his family to Washington state and worked with the Levitt-Brown-Huggins Shows. He became co-founder and Vice President of American-United Shows based in Seattle. He also was a well-respected member of the early Seattle Police Department Band.
