About George Alfred (Bubs) Tyler

An Auckland resident all his life George played for the then formidable City Club, helping it to championship wins in 1900,02,03,05,06,07 and again in 1911. First chosen for the Auckland Rep side in 1899 he was a regular team member until 1907 and again 1910-11.

His NZ All Black representation started in 1903 when the team won all 10 matches in Australia scoring 276 points and conceding only 13. They Beat Australia 22 - 3 at the SCG. In 1904 he was in the team which beat GB 9 - 3. George was an original All Black to GB and France in 1905-6 and played 23 of the 35 matches as prop. He played all 5 Internationals.

He continued to play for Auckland and was selected for the 1907 All Black Tour of Australia, but had to withdraw for work commitments.
