George Venter (1931 - 2009)

Brief overview:

George (78), was tortured to death on 31st May 2009, or early hours of 1st June on his Theescombe smallholding, Port Elizabeth. He was bludgeoned with a hammer, a large rock and a golf club, and dragged around the house. He was found lying in a pool of his own blood that morning. George's wife Jacobi Venter (67), was raped and beaten, both eye sockets were smashed, her nose broken and cuts to her face and neck, her ribs, knees and thighs bruised, and cuts on her back when she was dragged over broken glass. Cobi passed 10 days later from her injuries.

  • Six attackers, who were arrested and appeared in court, had gained entry to their property - Vernol Fillis (39), Mbulelo Breakfast (31), Vuyo Plaathies (33), Makwenkewe Lunga Pamle (24), Lukhanyo Bolo (24), Zonwabo Kilani (24).
  • Warrant officer Phillip Bekker, an expert who specialises in forensic analysis testified that a pair of shoes belonging to Pamle had made bloody foot prints at the scene.
