About George Wallet
(born Hull, 1815) travelled with a circus as a clown or comedian up to about 1860 when he settled in Monkwearmouth, Durham as a coal miner. Several of his children appear to have emigrated to South Africa where they may have continued the circus tradition. His oldest son Clifford, however, was a circus equestrian who had married Fanny Jeffries, a tightrope walker.
