About George A Weaver
George A. Weaver, 60, of New Holland, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the Duke Convalescent Residence, Lancaster, after an illness of two years.
He was born in Caernarvon Twp., a son of the late Benjamin and Mary Lichty Weaver, and was the husband of Helen S. Weaver. He was a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, a Sunday School teacher, secretary of the Sunday School for 12 years, and a member of the church board of trustees.
Weaver was a real estate and insurance dealer for many years. He was a director of the Earl Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and served as secretary-treasurer of its board of directors for 13 years. He was also a director of the Old Guard Mutual Insurance Co. and was president of George A. Weaver, Inc., an insurance and real estate firm.
A 1927 graduate of Millersville Normal School, he taught in the public schools from 1927 to 1930.
Surviving in addition to Weaver's wife are a son, G.Arthur, New Holland,four grandchildren, a brother, Luke L., Ephrata; and three sisters: Mrs. Bertha M. Martin, East Earl R1, Mrs. Emma Good, Terre Hill, and Mrs. Lydia Martin, Stevens R1.
