George E. Weis, 80, of Davenport, died early today at Mercy hospital, Davenport. He was born Oct. 12, 1888, at Marion, Ia., the son of Henry J. and Laura Bowen Weis. He was married in November, 1917, at Muscatine, to Anna L. Kemper. Mr. Weis was a jobber and a veteran of World War I. Ke was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Masonic lodge at Marion, and the American Legion post of Muscatine. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donald McNeal, Rt. 2, Letts, and Mrs. W. R. Carver of Monterey, Calif.; one brother, Clem Weis, Marion, Ia.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 17, 1967; his parents, one brother and one sister. The body is at the Fairbanks funeral home, and the casket will remain closed. Friends may call after noon Sunday. Rev. Ross Copeland of Washington will conduct graveside rites at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park cemetery.
