About George W Wetherhold
Note about parents
Some web trees give George Joseph's father as being a Jacob or John Wetterhold. Since only the one family of Wetterholds immigrated, however, that can help us eliminate potential fathers. Jacob is ruled out, because he died young in a skirmish with Native Americans. No John or Johannes is recorded at all - it's possible he existed, but if so he left no trace.
However, there is a George Wetterhold, who lived for a number of years in Allentown, who appeared only in the 1800 census. He may be the same George who (re)married in Berks County and baptizing two daughters there, but apparently died before 1810. This George is not for certain the father of George Joseph, but he's the only surviving Wetterhold that stayed in that part of Pennsylvania while his siblings all moved on to the Shenandoah Valley.
