George W Wohlgemuth

George W. Wohlgemuth, my beloved husband was born on Feb. 23rd, 1908 at Giroux, Man. and died in a car-truck collision St. Anne in which five out of seven occupants of the car lost their lives. He reached an age of 47 yrs. 11 mo. 15 days. At the age of 27 yrs. through the grace of God he found his Saviour and was baptized and accepted into the church fellowship of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on Dec. 4th 1935, to which he remained true to the end. He found his life's companion in me, Linda Penner, and we were joined in holy matrimony on Oct. 3rd 1937. We have shared joys and sorrow for 18 yrs. 4 mo. 6 days. We were blessed with one daughter, Margaret, and later adopted a son, George Leslie, into our family, who was also taken out of this life in the same accident with his Daddy. He leaves to mourn his, for us, so much too early and so unexpected departure, me his deeply bereaved companion and daughter Margaret, his father Cornelius P. Wohlgemuth, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. His mother, 3 sisters and a brother preceded him in death. He has been a devoted and loving husband and father and a good provider. Our home has been a happy one. His ever willingness to help wherever he could was greatly appreciated in the neighborhood, especially so in his service as telephone central operator during the last seven years. Many a good virtue of his will long be remembered. During the last winter and particularly the last week we specially noticed a great spiritual concernment in him and feel fully assured that he has gone before to that blesed home above. -Wife and daughter Margaret

George Leslie, son of above George and Linda Wolgemuth was born on Nov. 15th 1952 and died also on Feb. 9th 1956 in the same accident with his father. He reached an age of 3 years, 2 mo., 25 days. He was a loving child, unusually bright and intelligent, a picture of health, he seldom cried or complained and was a sunbeam in the home. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure, his mother and sister and a number of uncles and aunts and other friends who'll miss his happy smiles. -Mother and sister Margaret

Funeral services were held on Friday the 17th of Feb. First at the funeral home in Steinbach with Min. John M. Penner in charge. Then in the Greenland Church. Introduction by Min. J. P. Dueck. Text by Min. Jos. Isaac with addition and closing prayer by Min. Dave Penner. Message was leaning on the importance for us to listen when God calls and warns as in this incident. Interment was made in nearby cemetery with Min. Clif. Penner giving some final words of comfort and prayer.
