George Wolf

George Wolf was born on 31 Aug 1836 in Bavaria, Germany. When he was 26, he married Margaret Herzog, daughter of Wolfgang Herzog in Germany. The family story is that Margaret came from royalty, but gave it up to marry George.

George and Margaret had six children. Catherine, Andrew Nicholas, Michael, Adam and Lawrence were all born in Germany between 1862 and 1874. In April, 1876 the family sailed from the port of Bremen Germany on the ship Donau. The arrived in New York, New York on 8 May 1876. Two and half months later, on 22 Jul 1876, the last child George was born in Albany, Minnesota.

Unfortunately, George only lived in his new country for 18 months. He died on 03 Nov 1877 in Stearns County, Minnesota at the age of 41. He is buried in Seven Dolors Cemetery in Albany, Stearns, Minnesota with his wife and three of his sons Andrew, Michael and George.
