Gerald Daniel Shealer

Gerald D. Shealer, of Gettysburg, died April 21, 2013.

He was born February 14, 1935 the son of the L. Daniel Shealer and Jean (Peters) Shealer.

Mr. Shealer graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1953 and from Gettysburg College in 1958.

Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army for two years in New Britain, CT.

Jerry owned and operated Shealer's Furniture Store for 35 years in Gettysburg.

An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the cabin he built in Michaux State Forest.

Jerry was a member of the Gettysburg Borough Council for 15 years, serving as president for 10 years. He was a member of the Gettysburg Elks Lodge #1045 and held the office of Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Suzanne (Ziegler) Shealer; sons, G. Daniel Shealer Jr. of Baltimore, MD, and David A. Shealer and wife Cathi Cleary of Dubuque, Iowa and his four grandchildren, Sarah, Mikailah, Ryan and Sean.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., April 27, 2013, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gettysburg with Rev. Stephen Herr presiding. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
