About Gerrie Labuschagne
Gerrie Labuschagne (1956 - 2020)
Brief overview:
Gerrie (64), and his wife, Annetjie, were attacked on farm Normandie, in the Humansvlakte area, FS, on 3rd December 2017. They arrived back from church and parked under the carport when the three black male attackers ambushed them. They beat Gerrie repeatedly over the head with a steel pipe.
The attackers forced Annetjie into the house and demanded she open the safe. She managed to grab a firearm and shoot and wound one of the perpetrators, after which they ran away.
One of the suspects was arrested when police, and farmers in the area responded. One of the attackers worked for the Labuschagne's. The court case continues.
On 10th March 2020, Thinus Barnard, a friend of the Labuschagne's, told the media that Gerrie was a fit and healthy farmer until he was attacked. Gerrie sustained serious head injuries in the attack and could not walk after a while. Annette was no longer able to look after him full time, and he was admitted to a care facility in Bothaville, where he passed away.
