About Gert Kollgaard Rasmussen
Gert was the youngest of Nikoline and Lauritz‘s four children. He was born on July 23, 1936, in Venslev Mark near Skælskor. His parents had a small farm, where he helped out as a child. At the age of six he started school in Sønder Bjerge. At that time a child only went to school every other day.
After eight years of schooling there, he continued his schooling in Harslev. When Gert was eighteen years old, he served as a guardsman at the Royal Life Guard in Copenhagen for eighteen months. After that he went to Canada, where he worked for two years on two different farms and came back to Denmark. On November 12, 1960 he married Inge, the daughter of neighbors, Bertha and Valdemar Larsen.
They took up residence in Copenhagen, where Gert got a job in a lumber company as a driver. In 1965, the Lumber Company moved to Frederikssund and they followed. Here they bought a plot of ground and built a house where they now live. In Frederickssund, Gert got promoted to traffic manager. Later he worked in the invoice department, and at the present time he is accountable for the electronic data processing.
Gert and Inge have no children, and have recently taken a trip to Canada to visit brother, Leif, and cousin, Erling.
