Gertrude Jacobs, 95, Dickinson, formerly of Beach, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, at St. Benedicts Health Center, Dickinson, ND. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 11:00 AM (MDT) in the Carson City Cemetery, Carson, ND, with Pastor Arlen Lundberg officiating. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM (MDT) September 17, 2016, at the United Community Church, Beach, with Rev. Warren Maxsted officiating.

Gertrude was born June 6, 1921, to Christian and Martha (Schaible) Sprenger in Elgin, ND, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Bismarck School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse in various places. She married Whitey Jacobs in Wibaux, Mt. Together they worked in the medical field for 37 years in various places, including Jordan, Shelby, Glendive, MT, and Beach, ND. They also spent some time in Peru. Whitey passed away in 1981.

Gertrude loved children although she had none of her own. Her home was always open to children, family, friends, and neighbors; and a piece of pie and a cup of coffee were always available. She loved to paint portraits, and landscapes, also gardening, flowers, fishing, and hunting were some of her favorite things to do. Baking pies was her delight. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is survived by one brother, Allen Sprenger, Elgin, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 12 brothers and sisters.
