About Gideon Granger, Jr.
'Squire Granger occupied a position of influence and respectability in Suffield. His farm was in the western part of the town and descended to his son Julius. His home was on the High Street of the village, where the Academy buildings now stand. He was for many years a justice of the peace. He was a member of the Legislature in 1770, 1771, 1772, 1774, 1778, 1780, 1782, and 1784. He cultivated the must to considerable extent, and many of his poems are in the posession of his descendants. He graduated at Yale College in 1760.
Gideon and wife Tryphosa lived at Suffield Hill.
