Descendant of Mayflower passengers Elder William Brewster and Mary Brewster
Myrick was one of the earliest silversmiths working on Cape Cod and surviving examples of his work are very scarce. In fact, the only know silver attributed to Gideon Myrick in Patricia Kane's new reference book, Colonial Massachusetts Silversmiths and Jewelers, are four tablespoons. "
In the History of The Doane Family and Their Descendents it is recorded that "Gideon was a goldsmith by trade; went to sea, fell overboard in the night and was drowned."
Apprenticed about 1749 to John Doane in Boston.
