About Gilbert Ryther, of Alford Wells
Gilbert Ryther was born circa 1409 in Ryther, Yorkshire.
He was the second son of Sir William Ryther and Maud or Matilda de Umfreville.
Gilbert died in Sutton in Holderness, Yorkshire. Dugdale quotes Glover who described him as "of Alford Well, Sutton in Holderness". Alford, Lincs has many references to the Ryther manor in the early 16th century.
