About Giuseppe Capponi
Giuseppe Capponi was an Italian operatic tenor who sang leading opera roles of various composers both in Italy and Europe. He started his career with comprimario roles in leading opera houses. His first major tenor role was in 1860, He was chosen for two Verdi opera premieres, eg. Radames in first European Aida at La Scala, but became ill. He is most remembered today as the tenor soloist in the world premiere of the Verdi Requiem.
