Gloria Spence-Edwards

Gloria Houston Spence Edwards, 87, of Marietta, Georgia, died August 13, 2013. A funeral service wias held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Dean Hunter officiating. Interment was in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Hogansville, GA and has lived in Marietta for 81 years. She was office manager and dental assistant for Dr. Rudy Graham. She graduated from Marietta High School where she was captain of the girl's basketball team and also played softball. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marietta. Throughout her life she always stayed in contact with the people she met. She loved traveling but her true love was her family and family gatherings. She was an avid Georgia Tech fan.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband Charles "Scrappy" Edwards of Marietta; sons James Michael Spence and his wife Judy of Marietta, William Lee Edwards and his wife Gwen of Douglasville; brother Jack Houston of Marietta; sisters-in-law Janice Houston of Marietta, and Mary Edwards Moon and her husband Glen; grandchildren Shanna Spence Mulkey of Marietta, Charles Blake Edwards of Douglasville, James Devon Edwards and his wife Amber of Gadsden, AL, Jill Fernandez and her husband Daniel of Miami, FL; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Jimmie Susie Houston; sons Henry Luther Spence and Robert Weldon Spence; brother James Leo Houston; sisters Jimmie Lou Kelso, Joyce Datz, JoAnn Blankenship, Janice Dilbeck.
